On Sunday 1st October, Elland Silver Band claimed victory in the Championship Section of the Bolsover Festival of Brass. The band also took the award for “Most Entertaining Band”, Best Soloist was awarded to the bands Principal Cornet and the bands Musical Director, Daniel Brooks was awarded the winning Conductors trophy.

Against a line up of thirteen bands, the band claimed victory by a three point margin from defending champions, Yorkshire Imps. Music adjudicator, Steven Mead praised the band on their choice of music, quality of performance and overall musicality.

This is another historic moment for the Elland band, claiming their first ever Championship Section win. The result also sees the band invited to take part in the Senior Cup, which is part of the British Open Brass Band Championships held next May at the Winter Gardens, Blackpool.

“Its unbelievable what we’ve achieved today and a real testament to our hard work and teamwork from week to week. I’m so proud of everyone, ” commented Musical Director, Daniel Brooks.

Next weekend sees the band recording a new CD which features their winning programme and soloist Ben Jarvis.
